A man's stomach will be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth he will be satisfied with the consequence of his words. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it and indulge in it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.
Proverbs 18:20-22 AMP.
Many of us have heard the scripture in Proverbs 18:20-22, but we seldom hear the verse read in its entirety: “A man will be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth, he will be satisfied with the consequences of his words.” Wow! Just sit in that for a second. “Our stomachs will be satisfied with the fruit of our mouth.” What fruits are we speaking in our life?
If death and life are in the power of our tongue, then the fruit of our mouth should be positive and based on the promises of God. As we speak these promises, we will be satisfied with their manifestation and indulge in what we have spoken. That is an amazing promise from God. Just ponder and meditate on that for a while. God has given us the power in our very tongue to be satisfied in life with the type of fruit that we speak.
So, we shouldn't walk around with a "woe is me" mentality, speaking negatively about our life or our situation. As children of God, we have the power to speak things into existence. God has given us the same power He manifests, being created in His image. God spoke things into existence, and Jesus healed by speaking.
It would behoove us to always be mindful to speak what God says about us. For example, we are the righteousness of God through Jesus Christ, the head and not the tail, deeply loved by God, and cared for, bearing much good fruit. Speak the truth of God over your life—a firm foundation that can never be shaken. Speak life daily and see the manifestation of “exceedingly and abundantly more.”
Take a moment today to reflect on the words you speak. Are they aligned with God's promises? Are they bringing life and positivity into your world? Remember, the power of life and death is in your tongue. Choose to speak life and watch as God's promises unfold in your life. Amen.
