When my kids were younger, we watched the movie “Hook” many times. Robin Williams was featured as Peter Pan, however because of his adult busy attorney life he had forgotten who he was. Neverland needed him to return and save his original home (stay with me I promise you it will be worth it). When he returned to Neverland everyone was trying to remind him of who he was, strong, powerful, and able to defeat mighty armies. After many, many attempts he finally realized he was Peter Pan and because he was reminded of who he was he gained the strength and characteristics of his identity. There is one scene that really stuck with me, one of the little boys in Neverland looked at Robin Williams intently, took his little hands pulled back his wrinkled face and said, “there you are Peter.” What am I trying to say? Many times, we enter relationships and situations that were never designed for us. We try to make it work, compromise, and settle. We temporary forget we are a Kings Child. First and foremost, you belong to God, and are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, period that is your standing. When you start believing and seeing yourself dearly loved and prized, you’ll look in the mirror one day and say “there you are _____. “The enemy began the fight of deception in the Garden of Eden and continues daily to make you lose sight of who you are. A person who believes they are loved and accepted by God is unstoppable and powerful. This is the truth the enemy has tried to dismiss in your life to keep you against yourself. Don’t let him bamboozle you another day. You are dearly loved, nothing and no one not even your own actions can stop God from loving you and being embraced in his arms. Your standing in God is His righteousness and love for you that is irrevocable. Established yourself in your identity through Christ Jesus, not in people or things that are fleeting but you’re stance in God that is completely secure.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. 2 Cor 5:17-19 ESV
