But go, tell his disciples and Peter, “He is going ahead of you into Galilee There you will see him, just as he told you.
Mark 16:7 NIV
I love the above scripture because it identifies with how much God loves us through our worst mistakes. Jesus told Peter he would deny him three times and Peter told him he would never deny him. How terrible Peter must have felt doing the very thing he vowed he would not do, betray Jesus. It was one thing to deny him once out of fear, but Peter denied him three times after Jesus was arrested and beaten with swearing and cursing. Haven’t we all been there? Just in a different scenario, “I will never do that again,” only to find ourselves making the same mistake. But praise be to God we have a loving father who sees us through Christ Jesus and does not impute sin to us. When we fail the only thing God feels is compassion and love that moves us further away from ours sins and closer to HIM. When Peter and Jesus were reunited the Bible does not record that Jesus even mentions the denial. His great love is not predicated on mistakes or circumstances it is based on the truth that Jesus died for our sins and in exchange made us the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus.
